1) You Can't Jail Hope! Watch our new Video about the inhumane detention of Migrant Justice leader Eliazar Martinez Garcia for want of health care! Take action!

Eliazar was 1 of 5 farmworkers who met with the Governor back in October leading Vermont to adopt a new and improved Bias-Free-Policing Policy. Eliazar is an amazing leader, a great friend, and wonderful human being!
Please WATCH THIS SHORT VIDEO about the December 13th detention of Migrant Justice leader Eliazar and shedding light on the inhumane immigration system in VT. Border Patrol watched Eliazar enter and leave the Richford Health Clinic with his neighbor Josalyn and her 7 month year old baby. After the appointment they were followed by Border Patrol. A few miles later they were pulled over, not for speeding, but for 'suspicious activity', which they explained was having Florida plates in Richford, VT.
Eliazar is now stuck in the inhumane and broken immigration system and was just transferred to Buffalo, NY. We are fighting to reduce his $20,000 bail and working with solidarity allies in Buffalo to continue to visit and stay in touch. A typical detention like this can result in someone like Eliazar shuffled back and forth between detention centers for about 2-3 months before eventually being deported home.
TAKE ACTION to Support Eliazar! You can't jail hope!
a) The Obama Administration has shamefully broken all deportation records this year! Setting quotas and increasing police-border patrol collaboration has created a human rights crisis in our country that is not being taken seriously enough. End this year with one final loud and clear message to Obama to put and end to (in)Secure Communities and then take a minute to add an extra note to tell him to: "Stop pushing 'free trade' as the solution to our economic crisis. It only widens the gap between the Wall St. 1% and 99% and displaces family farmers on both sides of the border who are forced to migrate only to be met with militarized borders and unjust and inhumane immigration enforcement programs like (in)Secure Communities."
TAKE ACTION! SIGN THIS PETITION (inserting above note): http://action.altoarizona.com/p/dia/action/public/?action_KEY=9062
Then please SEND a more personalized COPY to Representatives Leahy, Sanders and Welch letting them know you are also very concerned about Eliazar's recent detention while accessing health care in Richford and that we need them to step up their fight against unjust and inhumane immigration enforcement policies like (in)Secure Communities. Make sure to thank Peter Welch for calling upon Obama to stop (in)Secure Communites.

b) TAKE ACTION! Write a letter to Eliazar in Spanish. Tell him what you think, feel, and dream. Honor his work here in VT- both on the farm and as 1 of 5 farmworkers who led the campaign to meet with the Governor creating a new Bias-Free Policing Policy for the VT State Police making a better and more just Vermont for ALL!
For now, mail your letters to us and we will forward to Eliazar:
