9/4 Milk with Dignity action in Massachusetts!

In May, we shared the news that the National Contact Point for Responsible Business Conduct in the Netherlands moved forward our international human rights complaint against Hannaford Supermarket’s parent company, Ahold Delhaize. As we prepare to sit down for mediated dialogue regarding abuses in the company’s dairy supply chain, farmworkers continue to take action calling on the multinational corporation to join the Milk with Dignity Program.

Over the summer, we educated Hannaford customers inside stores about the ongoing labor abuses behind the grocery chain’s store-brand milk. Farmworkers walked store aisles, leaving hundreds of flyers with workers’ testimonies on shelves and between milk jugs. At the end of each action, workers led chants by the checkout aisles and released flyers attached to balloons inside the store, carrying their testimonies to the ceiling where they couldn’t be missed.
Now, we’re bringing the fight back to Ahold Delhaize’s doorstep! On September 4, we will rally outside the company’s US headquarters in Quincy, MA, to call on the corporation to source its milk from farms protected by the Program. Farmworkers are urging allies to join the action!
Coming from Vermont? Let’s carpool! Vans will leave Burlington at 8am and stop in Montpelier and White River Junction on their way to Quincy. We will return the same evening. Food will be provided throughout the trip. No payment is required, though we will gratefully accept donations.
RSVP now to save your seat on the bus, and join us 9/4 as we take to the streets of Quincy, MA.
